Early Bronze

Pottery types characteristic of this archeological period:

It was the discovery of mixing the two alloys of copper and tin that brought about the Bronze Age. Sturdier bronze tools and weapons began to slowly replace their copper counterparts from the Chalcolithic Age. Canaanite cities dotted the landscape of the Holy Land with large settlements that eventually evolved into archaeological tells (mounds, such as Megiddo and Jericho. Trade routes became more established, integrating cultures and the religious worship of many deities of fertility. Ledged-handle pottery remained in use from the Chalcolithic Age well into the Early Bronze Age. Additional pottery types appeared, such as red burnished Abydos ware, along with a red net patterned vessel. Illumination was provided by burning olive oil in a four-spouted terra cotta vessel.
