SMALL BOTTLE, pottery (Early Roman Period, Bethlehem). "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint and dill and cummin, and have neglected the weightier provisions of the law" (Matthew 23:23). Bottles like this were used for dry, crushed/powdered spices. These small containers were also used to make “spice offerings” at the Temple.
